Chemical constituents: The main components of birch oil are salicylic acid, methyl salicylate, betulene and betulenol.
Properties: Anti-inflammatory, Soothing.
Birch buds were formerly used as a tonic in hair preperations. Birch can be used for all types of skin complaints: eczema, psoriasis etc. Birch oil can be used to sooth rheumatic and arthritc conditions, especially where kidney functions appear to need support.
Blends well with: Birch oil blends particularly well with benzoin, jasmine, sandalwood and rosemary.
Precautions: Best avoided during pregnancy.
