Baldwins Sandarac Gum Traditionally used to make varnish, Sandarac Gum has earned a strong reputation over the years for providing a protective coating on paintings and antiques that is hard and durable. Although this gum isn’t strongly aromatic it can be used in incense; however this gum is best suited for treating diarrhoea or helping calligraphers to write thinner lines (when sprinkled onto the paper).
