CONSTITUENTS
Volatile oil containing thujone (abolinthol), thujyl alcohol and iso-valeriac acid. It contains in addition absinthium and a bitter glycoside.
ACTIONS: Bitter, stomachic, choleretic, anthelmintic.
PHARMACY/RESEARCH
In vitro studies, Antimalarial activity was demonstrated. Anti microbial activity and antifungal activity against Staphylococcus and Candida Albicans. Pharmacological studies in human’s hepathopathy showed increased gastro intestinal secretions.
OTHER SPECIES
Artemesia Vulgaris – Wild Wormwood. Mugwort used for menstrual activity (not to be confused with Wormwood)
CAUTIONS
Do not take during pregnancy. Hyperacidity goes with bitter substances and may occur from overdose.

KEY INDICATIONS: Infestation. Anorexia after illness, Atonic dyspepsia.
INDICATIONS
A powerful bitter associated with feeble or poor digestion, liver and gall bladder congestion and halitosis (bad breath). It mental states, melancholy or mild depression is linked with liver; Wormwood can be used to stimulate gastric juice and bile. Other indications for the herb are lack of appetite, nausea and vomiting. It can be taken to prevent travel sickness before a long journey and expel wind from the bowel. Because of the herbs constituents it is best known for its use for infestation (worms).
