Because modern furniture is often made of glass, steel or plastic, people tend to forget about the needs of their wooden furniture. However, tables, chairs and shelves needn't be dull ever again.

This handy homemade recipe works best with dark woods such as beech, oak and mahogany.

Here is how to make it:

1. Using a funnel, 120ml apple cider vinegar, 60ml olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp vegetable glycerine and 20-30 drops lavender essential oil into a spray bottle and shake well.

2. Apply to wooden surface and rub with a cloth.
